HARTLAND RESIDENTS THIS STATEMENT IS FROM OUR TOWN MANAGER
7/25/2024 At 8:34 p.m. a citizen contacted the Town Manager, with a picture of smoke coming off the Hartland Landfill. The Town Manager immediately dialed 911 and had the fire department dispatched. The Town manager arrived on site and opened the necessary gates to allow emergency personnel into the landfill. The first fire truck arrived at 8:52 p.m. and Hartland’s Volunteer Fire Department was supported by St. Albans and Canaan Fire Departments. It was an impressive display of teamwork, communication, and professionalism. The Town of Hartland thanks all the volunteer firefighters, support emergency personnel, and the two public works crew members who came to assist with machinery. Thankfully, there were no injuries and the departure time was 12:21 a.m. The fire is still under investigation, the DEP has visited the site, and the insurance company has been notified.
