The Town of Hartland is a Selectmen/Town Manager/Town Meeting form of government.  The annual Town Meeting is held each year on the 1st Saturday of May. The Town's fiscal year is July - June and has a municipal budget of 3.4 million.

The three member Board of Selectmen are elected for staggered three-year terms.
